3 Benefits of Sliding Wardrobes

Posted on: 4 May 2022

If you want to install new wardrobes in your bedroom, then doors are one of the first things you should think about. While you can buy wardrobes with hinged doors, you might find that units with sliding doors prove to be more useful.

What are the advantages of installing sliding door wardrobes in your bedroom?

1. Fit Larger Wardrobes in Smaller Rooms

If your bedroom is on the small side, then you might find it hard to fit wardrobes with hinged doors in the room. You need space in front of these units so that you can open and close the doors without anything getting in their way.

If you're short on space, then you might have to buy smaller wardrobes and put them in a less than ideal place. You might have a perfect stretch of wall next to your bed that you can't use because there isn't enough space between your bed and the wardrobes to fully open the doors.

Sliding wardrobes have a smaller space footprint. Their doors slide to the side; they don't need to open out. So, you can install larger wardrobes in the most logical place in even a small bedroom. You don't need to worry about leaving space for the doors in front of the units.

2. Maximise Storage Space

You might not find wardrobes with hinged doors that are big enough for your needs or available space. These wardrobes tend to be smaller than sliding units. Their hinges can't necessarily take the weight of very large doors.

You're likely to find it easier to source taller and wider wardrobes with sliding door systems. These wardrobes spread the weight of the doors across their span, so they can be larger.

Plus, if you order custom units, then you can build wardrobes that completely cover a wall up to ceiling height. You'll use the space you have available much more efficiently, and your wardrobes will give you more storage room.

3. Get Large Mirrors in Your Bedroom

If you're like to have a full-length mirror in your bedroom, then you will usually have to buy a wall-mounted or free-standing mirror if you buy wardrobes with hinged doors. This mirror will take up space in your room or on your walls.

If you order sliding door wardrobes with one or more mirrored doors, then you get the mirror you need on the front of your wardrobe. You won't need to worry about buying a separate mirror or finding somewhere to place it.
